How do folks feel about GSoC? The application is ready if we're in. I'd want to keep it super lean. Maybe 2-3 students, to focus on just a couple topics with the best candidates.
OK, I would join in.
Cool, I'd really like to promote the Qt work
I expect that "Qt" attracts some students because it sounds easy.
quite likely, good point
we can set some application acceptance criteria
like the first 3 gci tasks.. :)
It's important that they are able and willing to understand BRL-CAD. How it works, interfaces, why it is how it is.
Some could try to build a Qt program and ignore BRL-CAD meanwhile. It's easy to work 3 months with Qt only.
I was (a little) surprised how effective the tutorials were getting people up-to-speed on the vocabulary and workings
I could definitely tell the difference with the dozen or so tasks I came across where they clearly hadn't done them yet

Already accepted and signed in.
aha, now it shows
it still showed as invited, but just updated
Thanks @Sean, I asked Florian, our last 2 years student, he will join as mentor too. So we can contribute some LibreCAD 3 ideas and I think we can handle 1 slot if available.
sounds good @LordOfBikes let me know what you think about priorities (if it's librecad 3 and if it is, what more specifically that might mean)
Guys, I am very new to open source. I am participating in Gsoc 2019. How do I get started?

Hi @Shubham -- you get started by talking and (more importantly) doing something. :-)
If you've looked over the project ideas, you're welcome to post your thoughts on them or more details about your experience in #Google Summer of Code or #new members
