Have you guys heard about the Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities? I hear the patches are significantly lowering the performance of some large applications
Just went to take a look at it, sounds pretty serious.
it's incredibly serious... unprecedented
history in the making
Aside from all the ethical concerns regarding how organizations were informed, I think this should give cause for some celebration as well. It just seems that all the hardware companies were lax on security but after this "meltdown" I think people have started to boost up their security efforts. Hopefully advancements with Quantum will allow us to reinvent digital media and communications.
If the despicable Javascript language dies out in the process of this transition it'll be a plus :)
Yes, I heard about it
It's pretty dangerous, all CPUs have this vulnerability
The worst part is hackers got to know about it before intel and other chip makers released a patch
Windows still hasn't released the patch
Which is funny because they were informed
There are already proof of concepts on the web
It's pretty dangerous, all CPUs have this vulnerability
not all CPUs.
the windows one look much like "wanna cry"
Oh, yeah :)
the windows one look much like "wanna cry"
Isn't it actually just WannaCry
Yeah, I don't know how that's related to the spectre & meltdown
Oh I just got it dang
Wow, that joke just skimmed right passed me
Haha
Hahah it is wanna cry
I think microsoft already published a patch for prevention of wannacry attack in their updates...and some other methods are also their to prevent it...as far as i remember..(I may have send this message to some other stream...by mistake)
The joke is that Windows is always the least secure
Windows is vulnerable because it's popular.
